Hello and Merry Christmas to all!

Hello and Merry Christmas to all!

I just noticed that my last blog post was way back in early November! Goodness me!
Time does fly!
I hope everyone had a beautiful Christmas. I’m so looking forward to 2014, I love this time of the year.
The Sarah London Yarn Club launched in November, palettes to inspire were sent worldwide.
My husband and I found the perfect house (we had been looking for quite awhile)!
We were given the keys to our new home two weeks ago, so we have been moving house in between Christmas festivities.
A peek inside! Once we get settled and I catch my breath I’ll give you a little tour.
A few people had thought that we had moved to the ocean and were living by the sea. No, we are still in the country, it’s the third home that we have purchased in the same suburb over the years.
Beautiful blooms!
We were invited to the street Christmas party and we got to meet all our new neighbours.
It was a lovely evening, I did a simple platter.
We had a fab Christmas Day, the kids opened their presents in the morning and then we went over to my brothers for Christmas dinner. I was asked to bring some Fried Rice without egg or prawns due to my nephew having allergies.
Robert, the sous chef (Emma’s fiance) chopped all the ingredients for me within minutes, we tossed and fried and made the biggest batch of fried rice. And, it was scrumptious! I’m going to make another lot soon, I’ll post our simple recipe for you when I do. We substituted shallots with a leek as the grocery stores were all out of bunches of shallots on Christmas Eve! I think I’ll not bother with shallots at all and always toss in a leek!
Santa was good to me! A sweet Tiffany horseshoe pendant and the pair of Steve Madden shoes I’d been coveting.
I best get back to the unpacking and sorting!
I’ll be back soon with a PDF pattern party to welcome in the New Year!

New Pattern! Sophie

New Pattern! Sophie

Saturated with bursts of bright colour, Sophie is new for 2014!
If you’re expecting this year or know someone who is, then this is a quick and easy blanket to hook . . . to gift or keep!
Raid your stash for oddments of yarn, it’s not necessary to go out and purchase skeins of yarn. Each round is worked in a different hue, so utilise left over yarn from previous projects.

Of course, this pattern would work well made to a single bed size also.
Rectangular in shape, make a bassinet, cot, stroller, pram or big bed blanket!

Luxury Yarns

Luxury Yarns

Yarn Samples
The lovely Abby of Luxury Yarns recently sent over a beautiful parcel full of gorgeous yarn samples. Scrumptious silk and cashmere yarns and a sweet chocolate golden heart – thanks Abby!
Yarn Samples
Luxury Yarns stock exquisite yarns from all over the world. Fine Italian cashmere, Shreya Silk, Artesano Alpaca Yarns just to name a few.
I love the colour fluency of the Manos Del Uruguay (Alegria) yarn.
Abby explains,
Alegria is a wonderfully soft hand painted machine washable sock yarn that is perfect for many other projects as well. It comes in 12 stunning colour mixes and a pattern booklet that has 13 original patterns, all of which only use 1 skein. As with all Manos Del Uruguay yarns there are no dyelots and each skein is unique and signed by the women who made it. As such if you are using more than one skein they recommend knitting using 2 hanks alternately.

How spectacularly colourful are the Symfonie Wood range of crochet hooks & knitting needles!

If you’ve been looking for a delectable yarn for your next baby knit, then look no further! Di Lusso Baby is so very soft and utterly scrumptious.
Abby explains,
Di Lusso (meaning Luxury in Italian) is made from 100% cashmere and as such it is buttery soft, and is perfect for even the most delicate skins and makes wonderful heirloom knits. I have created this yarn as a ‘baby/sport/5ply’ weight which is between a DK and a 4Ply. It can be knitted on anything from a 3.25 – 4mm needle and works perfectly with all patterns created for Debbie Bliss’ Baby Cashmerino.

Crochet Talk: Changing Colours

Crochet Talk: Changing Colours

How to Change Colours | Sarah London
I’m often asked the question . . . how do you change colours at the end of a row?
So today I thought I’d do a quick how to!
Work rhythmically, row by row in dc (sc).
How to Change Colours | Sarah London
To change colour, partially complete the last dc (sc) of a row as shown below.
